Cache Creek

Cache Creek is the perfect location to observe Bald Eagles for anyone not wanting to brave the snows of the Klamath Basin. The last time I visited this canyon, I was pleased to find 5 or 6 adult Bald Eagles along a short stretch of Highway 16. Several pullouts and county parks along this stretch of highway offer good viewing opportunities along the creek. Other wildlife viewing opportunities in the area include Pileated Woodpecker, Mountain Lion, Elk, and Black Bear.

Directions: Head west on Highway 20 from Highway 5 at Williams toward Clear Lake and turn south on Highway 16. Highway 16 then heads back toward Highway 5 at Woodland, with the northern section of the Highway being excellent for eagles.
